Tramway / Wed 24 Feb (19.30)
Tickets £5 book online
A programme of films from artist filmmaker and 2014 Jarman Award-winner Ursula Mayer. Medea (2013) is influenced by the late Italian filmmaker Pier Paolo Pasolini’s film of the same name, while Gonda (2012) responds to the play Ideal by Ayn Rand. They are shown alongside the shorter works Last Hours of Ancient Sunlight (2010) and Cinesexual (2013). Mayer uses film, performance and photography to create cinematic works that are rich in historical resonance. She employs texts and images from film, philosophy, politics and culture, while creating complex and autonomous speculations, on the contemporary human condition.
Programmed by Tramway this event is presented in association with the ICA with support from The Foyle Foundation. (www.ica.org.uk)
