Film, Video and Projected Artworks

The Future Paisley exhibition takes visitors on a journey through the fascinating past, present and future of Scotland’s largest town, showing how its unique and innovative approach to culture-led regeneration is making Paisley a leader for towns everywhere. Led by Renfrewshire Council and designed by architectural and design practice Lateral North, the main exhibition was first shown in Spring 2022.
The original exhibition featured an immersive experience, using 3D graphics and augmented reality to showcase the once-in-a-generation collection of major projects currently happening in and around the town. Those projects include the transformation of our 150-year-old museum into an international-class visitor destination; new cultural and community uses for former retail properties, and the creation of Scotland’s new home of advanced manufacturing on the edge of the town, next to Glasgow Airport.
Also featured are The Postcards from the Future collection, created by community and school groups in Paisley, including Castlehead High School, Disability Resource Centre, Gleniffer High School, Kairos Women+, Paisley Grammar School and STAR Project, bringing together voices of young people. Creative workshops were led by artists Ruby Pester, Nadia Rossi, Roos Dijkhuizen and Ardis Onnerfors introduced participants to a series of creative investigations to encourage them explore, connect to, and take ownership of the places where they live, work and play.
Selected videos and images from the Future Paisley exhibition will be on display at RE:MARKS, to help continue the dialogue and harness the creativity for which our residents are known, and to capture your ideas for how towns like Paisley can adapt to meet the big challenges facing the world in the future. We welcome you to add your voice to the conversation.
