Star Project Exhibition – ApArt
18/06/2022 @ 1:00 pm - 25/06/2022 @ 4:00 pm
ApArt was devised by the STAR Project, an award-winning community organisation, working with and for the people of north-west Paisley and Renfrewshire since 1999.
At STAR Project, we deliver creative and skills-based support aimed at tackling poverty, deprivation and isolation. We encourage opportunity, aspiration and community identity. We boost life chances, reduce stigma and celebrate success. We make people feel safe, accepted and ready to realise their potential.
ApArt was created in response to our learning during the Covid 19 lockdown, and to the anxieties our community was experiencing around loss of connection, the ‘new normal’, and the re-opening of society.
At this unique time in our history, we decided to harness the new-found interest in nature, hobbies and our environment to establish a safe space for creative expression, re-connection, and reflection on life as we now know it.
ApArt provided the opportunity to engage with artists, Rachel Mimiec and Izzy Leach, in a series of creative and therapeutic workshops, over the course of nine months from June 2021 to March 2022.
These unique sessions made use of sensory experience and creative process to inspire and enrich lives – improving wellbeing and cultural capacity. They also resulted in the creation of some wonderful works of art that have been collated into the ApArt newspaper which will be launched at the new creative space in the former Alder Store on Saturday 18th June.
Saturday 18th June from 1-4pm.
Tuesday 21st – Saturday 25th – 10am-4pm
(closed Sundays & Mondays)
