Award-winning writer and director predominantly based in Glasgow
Stef Smith is an award-winning writer who is predominantly based in Glasgow. She studied Drama and Theatre Arts (specializing in Directing) at Queen Margaret University in Edinburgh. Since graduating Stef has produced several new pieces of work and has worked as both an individual artist and with other theatre makers. Stef’s work is predominately political, seeking to unearth unheard stories. Her work does not fit into just one category but always aims to highlight both the lightness and darkness of modern life.
Stef Smith’s recent awards include a Laurence Olivier for Outstanding Achievement in an Affiliate Theatre in 2012, Writer-on-Attachment for National Theatre of Scotland and New Playwright Award from Playwrights Studio Scotland in 2011. As a writer and director, Stef has been involved in many projects including writing ROADKILL in 2010, TEA AND SYMMETRY in 2011 and writing and directing SILENCE OF THE BEES in 2012.
