KILLING ME SOFTLY is a powerful story of two lonely individuals, a gay boy and a straight girl. At first awkward and cautious, their friendship grows into a unique relationship that does without, and goes beyond sex. The play is set in the early days of AIDS. Clyde Unity Theatre toured KILLING ME SOFTLY extensively to community and theatre audiences after it was first performed at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 1987. Again and again it was acclaimed by audiences as an emotional and hugely entertaining play.
“Amusing, thought-provoking and with many tenderly observed scenes, the piece delighted the capacity audience as it turned out thoughts of a ‘love affair’ upside down.” Edinburgh Evening News
INSTANT
In response to KILLING ME SOFTLY, INSTANT is a bang up to date, physical piece looking at young peoples lives in 2013, devised by the company and directed by Fraser MacLeod.
The instant… you kiss… your eyes meet… your results arrive… you have sex… you wake…
…you walk home. The instants you share, the instants you hide…
“There’s no resisting the commitment of it’s young and gifted SYT cast, and the whole event glows with theatrical imagination and wildness… brilliant and always completely liberating.” The Scotsman
